Powerball’s Estimated Jackpot Climbs to $119 Million for Saturday
FLOWOOD, MISS. — A Powerball player in Jackson turned a $1 add-on into a $50,000 win in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing. The winning ticket, purchased at Fast Lane State Street in Jackson, matched four of the five white balls and the Powerball in the Double Play drawing, proving that sometimes an extra dollar can make all the difference.
Double Play gives Powerball players another opportunity to win with the same numbers on their original ticket. For an additional $1 per play, those numbers are entered into a separate drawing with a separate prize structure held immediately after the regular Powerball drawing.
The win is the latest in a string of big Powerball prizes won across Mississippi this summer. Since July 1, Mississippi Lottery players have scored significant wins with $50,000 prizes — in McComb, Gulfport, Flowood and now Jackson — as well as a $100,000 prize in Purvis and a $1 million prize in Tupelo.
The $50,000 Gulfport prize and the new $50,000 Jackson prize have not been claimed, meaning two Mississippi players may still have a $50,000 surprise waiting to be discovered.
With no jackpot winner in Wednesday night’s drawing, the estimated jackpot for Saturday, Aug. 29, climbs to an estimated $119 million, with an estimated cash value of $51.1 million.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play, and players can add Double Play and Power Play for an additional $1 per play. Players can learn more at mslottery.com or on the Mississippi Lottery Official app.

Friday’s Mega Millions jackpot is an estimated $145 million with an estimated cash value of $61.9 million. Saturday’s Lotto America jackpot is an estimated $3.12 million with an estimated cash value of $1.33 million. The jackpot for tonight’s Mississippi Match 5 drawing is an estimated $195,000.
