Every winner photo, Facebook Live, and post from the Mississippi Lottery starts with someone who knows how to tell the story. As the Social Media & Communications Specialist for The Mississippi Lottery Corporation, you’ll help bring our social media and communications strategy to life, from daily content and player engagement to winner celebrations and field events. (Note: Employees of the Mississippi Lottery Corporation are not considered state employees.)

This role would be a great fit for someone who is just as comfortable on camera for a Facebook Live as they are editing a video, answering a player comment, or setting up at an event on a Saturday.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and maintain a multi-platform social media strategy and content calendar aligned with organizational goals.
  • Manage day-to-day activity across all social platforms, writing captions that match our brand voice and keeping the visual brand standard.
  • Respond to player comments and messages quickly, professionally, and on brand.
  • Create and edit content for YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms, including polished short and long form video.
  • Host Facebook Live sessions on camera, and handle run-of-show, guest coordination, and comment moderation off camera.
  • Build community through social trends, campaign content, winner promotion, and social contests, always brainstorming fresh ideas.
  • Run boosted posts and targeted social ad campaigns, from setup through reporting.
  • Watch for potential customer service issues or PR risks and alert the right teams.
  • Analyze dashboards to make sure KPIs are being met.
  • Greet winners, gather their information and photos for social media, press releases, and the website, and publish winner features online.
  • Prepare the Daily Winner/Media report and lead the monthly employee newsletter.
  • Support the VP of Communications & Social Media with promotions, and help at field events with setup, customer interactions, and breakdown.
  • Work with marketing, sales, and leadership, and offer ideas and concepts for promotions and advertising.

You’re a Great Fit If You:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in communications or a related field (preferred).
  • Have broad experience across major social media platforms and a strong grasp of digital best practices.
  • Write, speak, and edit clearly and professionally for different audiences.
  • Are proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with social media management and scheduling platforms.
  • Have experience with graphic design and video editing tools.
  • Have experience in public-facing roles, event support, or customer engagement (preferred).
  • Are comfortable working in a public-facing capacity and at occasional off-site events, including some evenings and weekends.
  • Collaborate well across marketing, sales, communications, and leadership.

Why You’ll Love It:
