The Mississippi Lottery constantly explores new features and concepts to enhance our player’s game playing experience, and we are reaching out for your input with a couple of ideas. No decisions have been made, and there is no definite timeline if and/or when these concepts/features will become part of our product lineup.

We would appreciate you taking the time to answer a few survey questions that follow. This survey will be available until July 3, 2022. To add a little fun to the process, we will randomly select three lucky participants to receive a Wheel of Fortune® prize pack including:

Feature #1 - PoolPlays:

This concept is known as “pooling.” This is a popular option in a number of European lotteries.

It works like this: You first purchase the base Powerball game (we call this your “Personal Play”) to be able to participate in (qualify for) the pooling option, called “PoolPlays".

The PoolPlays option gives you 10 additional number combinations for an additional $2. Only 10 tickets across all ticket sales will be have those exact number combinations. A winning prize from any of your PoolPlays would be split 10 ways, and you would receive 1/10th of any prize (for example, 10 percent of the jackpot).

Note: The Power Play option only applies to your Personal Play, not to PoolPlays.

Example scenarios using $200 million as the jackpot:

EXAMPLE 1: Currently, if you purchased two Powerball personal plays for $4 you would have two chances to win the jackpot or the lesser prizes. If you purchased the Power Play option for an extra $1 per play, you would have a chance to multiply your winnings. You would be spending $6 for this ticket with two chances of winning the jackpot.

EXAMPLE 2: If you played one personal play for $2 and added the PoolPlays option for an additional $2, you would have a total of 11 chances to win a share of the jackpot and other non-jackpot prizes. Assuming no other player matched all five numbers and the Powerball, if your Personal Play matches the numbers drawn, you win the $200 million jackpot. If one of your PoolPlays matches the numbers drawn, you would win $20 million (1/10th of the $200 million jackpot). You would be spending $4 for this ticket. OR, if you had Power Play on your Personal Play, you would be spending $5 for this ticket.

Feature #2 – Double Play

A number of U.S. jurisdictions have added the Double Play feature. This feature costs an additional $1, and you must play the base Powerball game for $2 (on a play slip). Your numbers for the base game are the same numbers used for the Double Play drawing. You can add Power Play, however Power Play only applies to the base game and not to Double Play.

Double Play has its own prize structure. The jackpot is always $10 million, and the other prize levels differ from the base Powerball game. After the numbers are drawn for the base Powerball game a second set of numbers is drawn. Your base game numbers are your Double Play numbers. To add this game, it’s a simple check box and an additional $1 per play.

The ticket the players receives looks exactly the same as the current Powerball ticket with Double Play “Yes” on the ticket.
